Re: $ raised- Bohemian Cabaret!!!
Fri, September 19, 2008 - 11:39 PMToday I had the great pleasure of meeting with Lorraine from Amazing Aussies and passing off the money we raised to benefit Amazing Aussies. After we paid our costs to use the venue and the other costs involved with holding the fabulous benefit we held, I was happy to have a nice chunk to pass on to the Amazing Aussies folks. Not only did I get to pass along $600 in money raised from the event but I also got the honor of meeting, in person, twelve of these great, beautiful creatures.
If you dont want to read about my meeting you can stop here but not before I sincerely thank you so so so much for dontaing your time to dance, gas to drive and talent to share in our event. This organization is very dear to my heart and to know others helped out, bellydancers, helped out, really warms me up on the inside. So thanks again. I hope to do another one in 2009 because it was so fun, wasnt it?!
If you refer to the website along with me, you can see the (adoptable or sponsorable) pups I met and who slathered me with so much love and affection it was hard to leave.
Pups
Blanca- Oh my gosh- soooo cute! She is such a playful girl and cute. Kinda looked a bit like a small lab/aussie mix. She was just so youthful all the time I was there. She looks into your eyes as if she knows you're talking about her. And yes, she is available for adoption.
Pima- Oh. My. Gosh. This little cotton tailed fluffball was so sweet and so lovey! She has such soft fur and even the biggest dogs roll about on the floor with her and let her gnaw on their ears, as puppies do. I was *this* close to stashing her into my purse.
Porsche- Now this dog in person looks to me, a bit different from these pics. She is the absolute lover of the bunch. She is such a mama dog and mothers after the small dogs and puppy. She has the absolute softest ears I have ever ever felt on a dog and she has the cutest pig pink snoot! Her eyes are this intense golden brown and she was another one I would have like to dognap. She seems really apt to wanting to please and seems so trainable.
Nike- Nike is a special sweet doggie. Aaron was smitten with Nike and apparently it isnt real common for Nike to allow a stranger to pick her up but it was about the first thing Aaron did when he came in and he cradled her like a baby. She stayed nearby sort of intent on being in the muck of the craziness even though it seemed to stress her out a bit. But gosh so sweet again. Aaron said she was his favorite.
In addition to the ones posted on the adoption page I was lucky to meet P Toes (who could really care less if I worship the ground she walks on), Mama's special overachiever Hope who has her own wall of fame for agility awards, Molly who is a vocal sister but she looks very intently into your eyes as if she is really feeling you out. I liked her spotted legs. I met Darci the "queen diva" as I called her- she even crosses her legs when she lays down. Gumby stole my heart last time I visited and this time was similar. He hangs out between your legs so as to almost have shelter from the ensuing madness of twelev dogs running about. And there were two others who's names escape me at the moment but for meeting twelve at once, i did darn well. The agai8n, they are all so memorable and really, if you take an Australian Shepherd and give it a disbility that just makes it in a league with all other dogs cuz Aussies are so dang smart!
; )
Thanks to all who participated in ways small, medium and large and for being generous with your time!
K-Lee
